What is this?

Hello! I’m Triss. I am a post doctoral researcher in the Department of Physics and Centre for Plastic Electronics at Imperial College London. I make special light emitting didoes and am one of those curious people who never stopped asking ‘why’? I cannot think of a better world than one which is full of science.  I was exceptionally lucky to discover my love for science under the guidance of inspirational teachers at South Hampstead High School, but I know not everyone is as fortunate as I was…

My love for science communication began at Imperial College London. Whether it is taking our experiments to the Queen’s Lawn for the annual festival, talking in primary and secondary schools or participating at international STEM events, I was lucky enough to try it all. Through science communication I discovered a love of the process of teaching science as much as I love my own research. There is nothing more rewarding than being able to inspire the next generation of scientists.

I’m super passionate about recruiting and retaining female scientists. I set up Women in Physics at Imperial and sit nationally on the WISE young women’s board.

Outreach itself can be a daunting task: no outreach office can know everything about the schools they are sending you to or what the syllabus of every exam board is. I’ve decided to start this site to combine my resources and share my experiences to try and help.
