Today we hosted a group of 25 disabled children and teenagers from North Korea, the DPRK Youth Ensemble from the Pyongyang Exchange Delegation of People with Disabilities. The group are visiting Oxford, London (RCM), Paris and Cambridge. The event is being arranged by DULA internatonal.
It was a weird and wonderful event. I was so nervous about taking the group on a tour (I didn’t know how disabled they’d be, or how disabled friendly Imperial was), about talking to a group of people from a country I’ve never even dreamed of going to, about doing science demos..I couldn’t relax all morning! The group were wonderful when they arrived and we were very lucky. They loved the university, the royal albert hall, my short talk on Imperial.. I was so honoured to be involved and really wish the group the best of luck on their adventures around Europe.
